DR. WILLIAM H. O'NEILL was born around 1885 in New York State. He married his wife Emilie around 1905, when he was 20 years old. He entered the medical field late in life, graduating from the Central College of Osteopathy in Kansas City MO around the time of World War I. He came to Camden in 1918 and began his practice. By 1920 Dr. O'Neill had married. He was then living at 714 Market Street in Camden, with wife Emily, daughter Marguerite, and sons J. Thornton and William H. O'Neill Jr. During the 1920s Dr. O'Neill purchased the building at 702 Broadway, where he lived and practiced medicine. During his time in Camden he served as President of the South Jersey Osteopathic Society. Dr. O'Neill fell ill in 1934, and ill-health caused him to abandon his medical practice. Taken to Cooper Hospital for major surgery, he died of a fatal heart attack while awaiting surgery on August 5, 1936 at the age of 51.
