EDITOR'S MAIL BAG

Where is the Freeholders' W.P.A. Probe?

To the Editor:          .

Sir- The public is anxiously awaiting the report of their elected representatives, the county board of freeholders, on their findings in their operation of W.P.A. in Camden. Personally, I am expecting a report that all is serene and that the taxpayers are receiving full value for their dollar and that the management is in exceptionally capable hands, for that is the usual outcome of all investigations when conducted by politicians,

However, the public will not be fooled this time for the papers have exposed the gross mismanagement and waste of public funds and the partiality that has been shown.

Clerks who really work for small salaries are compelled to accept a reduction in order that "Queen Marie" can receive an increase in the face of a supposedly economy move.

If the freeholders are unable to deal in this situation I am confident that some public-spirited citizen will come along who is not tied hand and foot by politics. and will be able to muster enough public sentiment to be able to correct a situation that is plainly deplorable.

I am confident that the national administration is planning this work for the people who need it, and did not take into consideration that these public funds would be permitted to fall into the hands of politicians who have proved themselves to have absolutely no regard for human need or rights.
