Former
Camden Man Dies In Merchantville Charles Danenhower, resident of
Camden for nearly fifty years, died early this morning at his home on
Park Avenue, Merchantville. He had been ill for nearly four weeks,
suffering from the ailments of old age. He was 85 years old. Danenhower
had spent most of his life in Camden. His home was formerly at Fourth
and State Streets. Three years ago he moved to Merchantville. He was active in the work of the First
Presbyterian Church of Camden and had been senior eider of the
institution for about fifty years. He was a Civil War veteran and was
severely injured in one of the latter battles of the war. About six
years ago he retired from the wholesale grocery business, which he
had operated in Camden for many years. Funeral services will be held from the home of a
friend, Mrs. Edward Schellenger, 33 Fithian Avenue, Merchantville, on
Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Burial will be in
Harleigh Cemetery. Danenhower is survived by his widow, Margaret R. Danenhower, and a son, Ralph Danenhower, Poughkeepsie NY. Several nieces and nephews live in Haddonfield. |
