Canning Jr.

WILLIAM H. CANNING JR. was born around 1878 in Camden NJ to William and Mary E Canning. His father was a shoemaker. Shortly after he was born, the Cannings moved to Clarksboro NJ. By 1887 the family had returned to Camden, where they lived at 117 Taylor Avenue.   William H. Canning Jr. took a job as a mailing clerk at the First Camden National Bank and Trust in 1899, and remained his entire working life with that bank, rising to the position of senior bookkeeper. He later married Amy Kiner. In 1918 also became treasurer of the Provident Building and Loan Association.  The 1920 census shows that William Canning Jr. was living at 1038 Princess avenue in Parkside, where he lived with his wife, daughter, and mother-in-law. His parents had returned to Clarksboro, By 1930 the family had moved to 4115 Carman Street in Pennsauken NJ.

William H. Canning Jr. was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics lodge in Clarksboro NJ.  He passed away on January 21, 1938. After funeral services at 1401 Princess Avenue, he was buried at Harleigh Cemetery.
