SAMUEL E. PATTON was born in Camden, New Jersey on February 10, 1887 to George D. and Catherine Patton. He was baptized April 3, 1887 at the Fillmore Methodist Episcopal Church.

A veteran of World War I, serving with Company H of the 29th Engineer Regiment, Samuel E. Patton was living with his mother and younger brother James when the Census was taken in 1920. In September of that year he was appointed to the Camden Fire Department in the early 1920s. He was assigned to Ladder Company 4 in September of 1920. Samuel Patton had worked as a pipefitter, a motor mechanic, and as an electrician, before going into the fire service. He had gone to work as a pipefitter by the time the 1924 City Directory was compiled. Samuel E. Patton lived at 1807 Fillmore street until at least 1929. By 1931 he had moved to 132 Joy Street in Gloucester City. When he registered for the draft in 1942 he was living at 2723 Garfield Avenue in Cramer Hill.

Samuel E. Patton worked for the Kohler Co. of Philadelphia for 31 years before retiring in 1961.

Last a resident of 2719 Garfield Avenue, Samuel E. Patton died on April 6, 1962 at Camden County General Hospital at Lakeland, survived by his wife Verna, three daughters, three stepdaughters and four stepsons. Samuel E. Patton was buried at Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken.
