Giletto


JOHN GILETTO was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1933 to Michel and Agnes Giletto. He was one of nine children. The Giletto family lived for many years at 609 South 4th Street, near the corner of South 4th Street and Royden Streets. After serving in the United States Army, he was appointed to the Camden Police Department in 1960. He was promoted to Sergeant in February of 1967 and by December of 1971 had reached the rank of Lieutenant. He was then in charge of the Camden Police Department's Juvenile Division. He had previously served as member of the Camden Police Department's K-9 Unit, partnering with police dog Thunder.

After retiring from the Camden Police Department he went to work as an investigator for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, retiring as a detective sergeant.

John E. Giletto married Diane Panarello and they had six children. The Giletto's lived at 203 North 41st Street in East Camden during the 1960s. John E. Giletto was last a resident of Bellmawr, New Jersey. He passed away at the age of 78 on February 23, 2012, survived by his wife, children and five grandchildren, a brother, a sister, and many nieces and nephews, as well as friends in the law enforcement community.

AGE: 78 • Bellmawr

John E. Giletto, on February 23, 2012, of Bellmawr, formerly of Camden. Age 78. Beloved husband of 56 years of Diane (nee Panarello). Devoted father of James Giletto, Anthony Giletto, Christina Bryson (Mark), Diane Myles (Bart), Janet McClernan (Kevin) and John Giletto (Mitzi). Loving grandpop of Lindsey, John, James, Anthony, Nicole (Nick), Shane, Bart, II, Brett, Amber, Tyler, Kelsey, Brandon, Drew and Dylan and one great grandchild expected in April. Dear brother of Carmen Giletto (Jeannette) and Nino Giletto. Pre-deceased by six siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Giletto proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Camden City Police Lieutenant and retired as detective sergeant with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. There will be a viewing from 9:15 to 11:15am Tuesday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass 12noon Tuesday at St. Rita of Cascia Parish, Mary, Mother of the Church, Bellmawr.
