CHARLES F. DENOF was born in New Jersey around 1901. When the 1920 Census was taken, he was living at 513 Spruce Street in Camden with his brother, William M. Denof, who had an undertaking business. William Denof would subsequently acquire the building at 840 South 5th Street, which he would convert into a funeral home and residence. Charles Denof would remain with his brother through 1947. Both Denof brothers were active Democratic political operatives in Camden's Sixth Ward. Charles Denof served for many years as justice of the peace. He worked thorough at least 1930 with his brother in the funeral business, before taking a position with Camden's highways department. Charles F. Denof died at his home at 501 Chestnut Street on December 26, 1953. He was buried at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr NJ. |
