SERGEANT BURTON BINGHAM was born on September 15, 1918. He was a 1936 graduate of Collingswood (NJ) High School. He lived at 219 Lakeview Drive in Collingswood, and worked for the Camden Fire Insurance Company before being inducted into the service in December of 1942, he received his basic training at Camp Carson CO. He married May B. Mortensen while stationed at Camp Carson in the fall of 1944.
    Sergeant Bingham was wounded on June 6, 1944 during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, while serving with the 237th Combat Engineer Battalion. He died of his wounds on June 10th. After the war, his body was returned to the United States, and he was buried at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden NJ. 

     Besides his wife, Sergeant Burton Bingham was survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Bingham of 8 West Knight Avenue, Collingswood NJ, and a sister, Mrs. Ann Burke. He also left three brothers, Frederick, Grafton, and William, all of Haddon Heights NJ
