Camden
Fire Department |
This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey. During the morning of January 28, 2012 a fire was set in the abandoned one-story commercial building at 1037-1039 Broadway that had been the home of the Red Carpet Lounge, a popular bar and nightclub during the 1980s and 1990s, owned and operated by Elaine Brundage and her family. The bar had been closed since the late 1990s, and although heavily fortified, had been broken into and had been the scene of fires previously. Adjacent to the Red Carpet at 1033-1035 Broadway, another one-story commercial building which had been abandoned in the late 1980s was also damaged, or rather, received further damage, as this building too had been the scene of previous fires. Companies responding to this fire effected forcible entry and shortly after commencing operations switched to defensive tactics. One firefighter was treated by EMS personnel for heat exhaustion during this incident. All photos are presented in the order in which they were taken. There are so many images for this fire that I have split coverage of this fire into three parts, this being Page 1. There are links below to continue to Page 2 and Page 3. As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces).. Phil
