STAFF SERGEANT WARREN H. PATTERSON was born on March 2, 1921 in Camden NJ to Mathias and Clara Patterson. The Patterson family had come to Camden after 1916, and lived at 431 North 38th Street, in the East Camden section of the city. The elder Patterson worked as a clerk in a bank. Warren Patterson was a 1939 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, and was attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania when he was drafted. He had also been working at a bank in Philadelphia, the Fidelity Philadelphia Trust Company.

Inducted into the Army in November of 1942, Warren Patterson trained at Camp Campbell KY and Camp Arthur TX, and went overseas on September 20, 1944. Staff Sergeant Patterson died of wounds received in combat on April 22, 1945 near Baldern Germany. 

After the war Warren Patterson was returned to the United States, and he was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ on August 16, 1948. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Patterson, of Pennsauken NJ, his son William Patterson, His mother Mrs. Clara Patterson, of Palmyra NJ, and his older brother, Mathias Paterson Jr. also of Palmyra.
