TECHNICIAN FIFTH CLASS ROBERT P. SMITH was born about 1921. He was the son of Mrs. avis Smith, and lived with his mother at 618 State Street in Camden NJ. Robert Smith attended classes at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, and worked at the Knox Gelatin plant in North Camden, a short walk from his home, prior to enlisting in the Army in May of 1942.

Robert Smith was killed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was brought home to New Jersey in December of 1947, and buried at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden on December 13th.
