PRIVATE MICHAEL MIGNOGNA was born on August 23, 1906 in Pennsylvania, one of eleven children born to Egidio and Ella Mignogna. His father had come to America from Italy in 1898, his mother was a Maryland native. The family moved to Camden NJ shortly before the January 1920 census, purchasing a house at 310 Benson Street in Camden NJ. By April of 1930 the Mignogna family had moved to another home, at 415 Stevens Street. Michael Mignogna had married, and was working in construction by this time. Michael Mignogna and his wife Anna lived with his parents at the time of the census. They later moved to a house at 322 West Street in Camden. The Mignognas had two children before he was drafted on August 14, 1942.

Private Mignogna was assigned to a medical unit at Fort Dix NJ. At 11:30 AM on October 21, 1942 he suffered a heart attack, and died minutes later. Michael Mignogna was survived by his parents, wife, and two children, four brothers, Earl, Joseph, Carmen, and Joseph, and six sisters, Mrs. Emily Zelo, Mrs. Elvera Diorio, Mrs. Helen Casey, Mrs. Beatrice Bruno, and Misses Lucy and Yolanda Mignogna.

Michael Mignogna was buried at Calvary Cemetery in what was then Delaware Township (present day Cherry Hill) NJ on October 26, 1942.
