Former Letter Carrier Dies in England; Sergeant Killed

     A former Camden letter carrier died while training in England, a West Collingswood sergeant was reported killed in action and 11 other from South jersey were listed as wounded in War Department announcements yesterday. 
     Dead:

     Technician 5th Class Edward R. Snow, 29, of 714 Curtis Avenue, Merchantville
     

TECHNICIAN FIFTH CLASS EDWARD R. SNOW was born to Charles E. and Lillian Snow in New Jersey in 1914. He had an older brother, Charles R. Snow. The Snow family made its home at 3421 Highland Avenue in Camden, New Jersey. In 1930 his father and brother both worked in Camden's shipyards, as a time keeper and an electrician respectively. Edward Snow was a 1931 graduate of Camden High School, he had been a mailman in Camden and Merchantville for 7 years prior to his induction, and had also been active in Masonic activities within the city. With his wife Anna, he made his home at 714 Curtis avenue in Merchantville NJ.

Edward R. Snow was inducted into the U.S. Army in August of 1943. He reported to Veterans Memorial High School in Camden NJ at 9:00 AM on August 21st with other local men, and left for Fort Dix NJ. He went overseas to England in November of 1943 to serve in a postal unit. He was transferred to an Infantry outfit in July of 1944, and died of a heart ailment while training on February 12, 1945.

Technician Fifth Class Edward R. Snow was survived by his wife, the former Anna E. Comerford, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Snow of 3421 Highland Avenue, Camden NJ.
