SECOND LIEUTENANT BRUCE R. BUNTING was born on July 13, 1923 to Charles Orlando and Louise W. Aitken Bunting. By April of 1930 the Bunting family was living at 1 Station Avenue in Haddon Heights NJ. Charles Bunting was then working as a commercial traveler in the oil and gas business. His parent separated in May of 1934. Second Lieutenant Bruce R. Bunting died as a result a wound to the head from enemy machine gun fire while on a bombing mission in Italy on September 10, 1944. He was brought home to New Jersey aboard the USAT John L. McCarley in the spring of 1949. On June 16, 1949, Bruce R. Bunting was buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ. He was survived by his father, Charles O. Bunting, then of 306 Broadway, Camden NJ, and his mother, of 5307 Chew Street, Philadelphia PA. Bruce Bunting's first cousin, Walter M. Bunting, was killed in a plane crash while working as a pilot for the United States Aerial Mail Service in May of 1921, A first cousin once removed, Seaman Second Class Raymond Walter Bunting, was killed in an aerial training accident in California in November of 1920.
