PRIVATE WALTER F. GEORGE JR. was born in New Jersey in 1919, the son of Walter F. and Anna George. His early years were spent in Gloucester Township NJ, where, in 1930, the George family owned a home on Somerdale Road. Walter George Sr. was then working as a truck driver. He was lived with his wife Margaret and son Walter III, at 1320 Park Boulevard in Camden NJ, before being inducted into the United States Army. Walter F. George, Jr. had worked as a welder at the New York Shipbuilding Company in Camden prior to entering the Army in April of 1944. He was sent overseas in October of that year.

Private George died of wounds received in combat on November 27, 1944. He had been mortally wounded in France two days prior to his passing. 

Walter F. George was survived by his wife Margaret and his son Walter F. George, 3rd, and a sister, Anna. He was brought home after the war, and he was buried at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr NJ next to his mother. His son, Walter F. George III, died in 1975, and is buried next to his father and grandmother.
