SECOND LIEUTENANT RALPH D.
HERITAGE, 27, of 407 Broadway in Camden NJ was wounded on January 20,
1945 while serving in Luxembourg. He died as a result of these wounds
five days later. Ralph
D, Heritage was the oldest child of Charles M. and Lydia Heritage. Born
in New Jersey in 1917, his family was living on Elm Avenue in Deptford
NJ at the time opf the 1920 census. At that point Charles M. Heritage
was working as an inspector at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation
shipyards in Camden. By
1930 the family had moved to Camden NJ. Charles Heritage had opened a
picture framing business on Broadway, which he operated for many years,
and in 1938 was the President of the Broadway Businessman's Association.
The Heritage family lived and operated their store at 424 Broadway at
the time of the 1930 census. They later moved to 407 Broadway. Besides
Ralph, the family included sisters Marguerite and Miriam. Ralph Heritage
was a graduate of Camden High School. Second
Lieutenant Heritage is buried at the
Luxembourg American Cemetery in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. |
