PRIVATE JOSEPH N. SANTOSUOSSO was born around 1923 to Louis and Mary Santosuosso. In the 1930 census, the family was living at 779 Division Street in Camden NJ. Joseph, the oldest child, then had one sister, Lucille, and Louis Santosuosso was working in the leather industry in Camden. The neighbors at 773 Division were the Troutmans, sons Edward and William would go on to join the Camden Police Department in the late 1940s.

Inducted into the Army Private Joseph N. Santosuosso was assigned to the 633rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion. He was killed in action on September 5, 1944. His death was reported in the November 11, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post, which reported his current address as 1022 Langham Avenue in the Parkside section of Camden NJ. He was survived by his parents and sister.
