SEAMAN SECOND CLASS JOHN ROMANOWSKI was born on March 2, 1917. He died  aboard ship due to reasons not related to combat on September 16, 1944. He had lived with his wife Elizabeth and sons John, Edward, Robert, and William at 279 Liberty Street in Camden NJ. On November 19, 1943 he passed his physical at the draft board, and he  entered the Navy on December 10, 1943. 

John Romanowski was survived by his wife and children, his mother, Sophie Lewandowski of 35 Swarthmore Avenue, Gloucester Heights NJ, and sisters Mrs. Sophie Safryn of Camden and Mrs. Anna Gnojski of Gloucester Heights NJ. A Requiem Mass was held for him at the Resurrection of Christ Church, Mount Ephraim Avenue and Thurman Street, Camden NJ. His death was reported in the September 23, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post.
