TECHNICIAN FIFTH CLASS HOWARD D. SANFORD, 20, of 2863 Idaho Road, Camden NJ, was killed in action on January 1, 1945 while serving with the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theatre, while on a raid against Japanese facilities on Ceram Island. Prior to entering the service, he had attended Haddonfield High School. After being inducted into the Army, he qualified for flight duty, and trained as a radio operator and as an aerial gunner. Howard D. Sanford was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Sanford, of the Idaho Road address. |
