PRIVATE FRANK GEMBALIK, 35, of 1035 Princess Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood of Camden NJ, died on January 24, 1943 at the General Hospital at Fort Devens MA. Frank Gembalik was born in 1907 in New Jersey to Joseph Gembalik, a blacksmith, and his wife Triscia, both of whom had come to America from Poland. He had a grammar school education. In 1930 the family lived at 1170 Mt. Vernon Street in Camden. Frank Gembalik married Mary Emma
Mayfield and worked for the Springfield Coated Paper Company
in North Camden, prior to his induction into the Army on September 26,
1942 at Camden. He reported for active duty on October 10, 1942. Private
Gembalik had been stationed at Fort
Wetherill RI, before taking ill in mid-December 1942. He was
subsequently taken
to the hospital at Fort Devens. |
