PRIVATE FIRST CLASS EUGENE J. PEARCE, of 1607 Broadway, Camden NJ was killed in action in Germany on October 10, 1944. The son of Leo and Mary Dorothy Pearce, he had worked at Camden Forge prior to joining the Army in December of 1941. He had been sent overseas in May of 1944. A mass was said in his name at Church of the Sacred Heart at Broadway and Ferry Avenue, Camden NJ, on November 18, 1944. Eugene Pearce was brought home aboard the USAT Joseph V. Connolly, arriving October 27, 1947, and buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly NJ. |
