Albert Boyer

SERGEANT ALBERT BOYER was born in September of 1925 to Charles and Nellie Boyer of Camden NJ. According to the 1930 Census, Charles Boyer had come to America from Poland in 1906, his wife Nellie arrived in 1913 from Russia. The Boyers married around 1915, and lived in Pennsylvania through 1918. By 1921 the family had moved to New Jersey. The family lived at 135 State Street in Camden NJ as of 1930, when Charles Boyer was working in a hardwood shop as a finisher. They later moved to 17 South 36th Street in East Camden. The family included sisters Helen and Jennie, and brothers William F. and Frederick.

Albert Boyer was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden NJ. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia PA, and was working for the the research division of Cities Service Oil Company (present-day CITGO) on Petty's Island when he enlisted in the Army in October of 1943.

Albert Boyer was killed in action over Foggia, Italy on October 10, 1944, when the B-17 bomber he was serving in, nicknamed the Lady Lynn, went down. His death was reported in the March 6, 1945 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. He was survived by his parents and siblings.

Albert Boyer was brought home after the war. He was buried at Gettysburg National Cemetery in Gettysburg PA in 1949.
