PRIVATE FIRST CLASS GEORGE A. BOWERS  was born in 1893 at Hammonton, New Jersey to Louis and Emma Bowers. He lived at 420 Broadway in Camden NJ. 

George Bowers was living at 420 Broadway in Camden when he enlisted on April 25, 1917. Initially assigned to Company B, 1st Engineer Battalion of the New Jersey National Guard, he was sent to Sea Girt NJ for training on July 25, 1917. In September of 1917 this unit was reorganized as Company B, 104th Engineers. After further training at Camp McClellan in Anniston AL he was sent to France as a member of Company B, 104th Engineer Regiment. He saw action north of Verdun, France.

Private George A. Bowers died from influenza and pneumonia in France on January 24, 1919. He was brought home after the war, and buried at Calvary Cemetery in what was then Delaware Township NJ. He was survived by his parents, and he rests next to them, his mother passing in 1921 and his father joining them in 1930.
