In June of 1900, the Miller-Rittenhouse Company established a plant for the manufacture of licorice at the foot of Jefferson Street. This has been since the 1920s the plant of the McAndrews & Forbes Company, the largest manufacturer of licorice products in the world

The first Free Rural Delivery mail route in Camden County was established in 1900. It was 23 miles in length, and traversed the Marlton Pike, Haddonfield and Colestown Roads, Burlington Pike, Wellwood Avenue in Merchantville and Browning Road to Kaighn Avenue and back to the Camden Post Office

The Central Trust Company bank building at 4th & Federal Streets was opened on October 31, 1900. This bank merged with the Camden Safe Deposit & Trust Company in 1927.
