Camden Man Held After Son Wounds Self With Gun A Camden father was in county jail today because his 10-year-old son accidentally shot himself with a revolver he got from the family car. James Hayes, 37, 01 2135 Van Buren Street was remanded to county jail by Judge Dzick on charges of illegal possession of a firearm. The boy, Earl, is in West Jersey Hospital with a wound to his left hand. Police said the lad told them he shot himself Saturday with a .32 caliber gun he had found under the front seat of the auto. Detective Walter Szalanski told Judge Dzick that the elder Hayes said a friend placed the weapon in his car two months ago and that he forgot about it. Hayes’ story in court today was that someone placed the gun in the car to get him in trouble with the authorities.
