Maplewood
Street

MAPLEWOOD STREET, like Somerset Street which intersects with it, is a street in East Camden that nobody lives on. The street as conceived was meant to run from Baird Avenue east to Camden's city limits, parallel to Randolph Street. The construction of the Baird Avenue overpass and commercial development along the Admiral Wilson Boulevard had the effect of preventing any homes from being built on Maplewood Street, and it was only paved to a point just east of Thorndyke Street, where an auto repair shop stood for many years. Satellite views show that at one time the street did continue east, in an unpaved condition.
