HAINES STREET is a narrow street that runs for one block, east from St. John Street to 837 South 6th Street, between Division Street and Spruce Street. The south side of Haines Street began with the rear of Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, and then a row of ten houses, numbered 522 through 540. The north side of Haines Street had the rear of 548 to 576 Division Street. The houses on Haines Street first appear in City Directories in 1884. The street was nit listed in the 1872 directory. There was still one occupied houses on Haines Street as late as 1980. All of the homes on Haines Street are now gone. The street itself is intact and there is a street sign on the corner of South 6th Street and Haines Street. |
