DOUGLASS STREET is a narrow, one block long thoroughfare that runs south from Spruce Street to end at Cherry Street, between South 7th Street and South 8th Street in South Camden. The street, originally known as Lincoln Avenue, first appears in Camden's City Directories in 1883. It was renamed Douglass Street shortly after the 1899 annexation of the Town of Stockton by Camden, which forced the renaming of a good number of streets that had identical names in both municipalities, and the renumbering of some addresses. |
