CHANNING TERRACE, and its sister street, Cleveland Terrace, ran in opposite directions for about one-half a block each from the middle of the 200 block of Stevens Street. Cleveland Terrace ran south from 212 Stevens Street south to a dead end, while Channing Terrace ran north from 211 Stevens Street, also to a dead end. Channing Terrace and Cleveland Terrace do not appear in the 1885 Sanborn Map but already were built when the 1887-1888 Camden City Directory was compiled. Eight homes appear on the 1891 Sanborn Map, numbered 210 through 217 Channing Terrace. There were no homes listed on the Terrace in the 1947 Camden City. Channing Terrace was erased in 1970 when the Royal Court Townhomes were erected on land between South 2nd and South 3rd Streets below Stevens Street. |
