BUDD STREET is in Camden's Centerville neighborhood. It first appeared in City Directories in 1878. The first year that a house appeared with a Budd Street address, however, is 1891. A 1914 map shows Budd Street running east from Ninth Street to the rear fence of Evergreen Cemetery, between Ferry Avenue and Central Avenue. The 1906 Camden City Directory shows Budd Street beginning at Miller Street, however. The construction of the Clement T. Branch Village public housing project, which opened in 1940, further shortened Budd Street, which now begins at South 10th Street. |
Do you have an Budd Street memory or picture. Let me know by e-mail so it can be included here. Phil
