ALDER STREET was a small street that ran from a half block north of Chestnut Street, south to Sycamore Street, between South 10th and South 9th Streets, west of the railroad tracks. Alder Street is perhaps most notable for two families who lived on it, the Tunsil family and the Waples family. Both were involved for many years in Camden as funeral directors. The 1000 block of Alder Street was obliterated by the construction of the interstate highway Route I-676. No trace exists of the 1100 block, it too, appears to have been taken for highway construction. |
