WILLIAM H. GREEN was born around 1859 in New Jersey to Joseph and Julia Green. The 1880 census shows the family residing at 816 South 2nd Street. His father was then working as a grain weighmaster. Both William and his brother Henry H. "Harry" Green were then working as laborers. A sister, Mamie, also was at home. The brothers appear to have lived in Cramer Hill in the late 1880s, where Harry Green had a store and William worked as a salesman.

William H. Green married his wife, Ella, shortly after the census was taken. The Green brothers appear to have lived in Cramer Hill in the late 1880s, where Harry Green had a store and William worked as a salesman. William H. Green found work around the turn of the century as trolley car operator in Camden, a position he held until his retirement in the early 1930s. William and Ella Green's daughter Mildred was born around 1905. By 1920 William H.
