JOSEPH GIORDANO was the founder and president of the Giordano Waste Material Company in Camden NJ. After coming to America in 1901, he settled in Camden the following year. He built his scrap metal business into a large company with operations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Joseph Giordano lived with his wife Isabella at 1520 Wildwood Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood of Camden NJ. He was involved in civic and fraternal affairs. During World War II, he was a leader in the scrap metal drives crucial to the war effort. He passed away in 1951 at the age of 68 at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, and was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Delaware Township (present-day Cherry Hill) NJ. |
