Camden People - Joseph A. Murray

JOSEPH A. MURRAY was born in Camden, New Jersey on February 16, 1927 to Joseph and Evelyn Murray. His parents were living at 810 Pine Street when the 1927 Camden City Directory was compiled. By 1929 the family was living at 1315 Thurman Street in Camden's Whitman Park neighborhood. They were still at that address when the census was taken in April of 1930. By 1940 Murrays had moved to 1192 Jackson Street. The family had relocated to 1148 Liberty Street by 1943. The 1947 Directory shows them at 1817 Salem Street.

Joseph A. Murray was appointed to the Camden Fire Department on January 15, 1963. He reported for duty the next day. After over 21 years of distinguished service, Joseph A. Murray retired on pension on October 1, 1984.

Joseph A. Murray lived at 2802 Harrison Avenue in Cramer Hill when he was appointed to the Fire Department. After residency restrictions were lifted he moved to Westmont, New Jersey. He passed away on June 23, 1993.
