John
Fallan

JOHN FALLAN was appointed to the Camden Fire Department at some point not long after November 12, 1874 as a replacement for William C. Lee as an extra man with Engine Company 2. He resigned on July 7, 1875. During his time with the Camden Fire Department, John Fallan lived at 525 Arch Street.

Records of the time indicate that "John Fallan" was in fact M. John Fallen.  The 1878 Camden City Directory shows a John Fallen, "railroader" at 112 Taylor Avenue. The 1880 Census shows the M. John Fallen family at 112 Taylor Avenue, living with his wife Kate and children Katie and Walter, and brother John Fallen, aged 20. Both men worked as laborers. M. John Fallen was 34 at the time of the Census, of the two, only he would have been old enough to have served as a fire fighter in 1874 and 1875. According to the Census he was born in Ireland in 1846. His wife was also born in Ireland, in 1851 according to the Census. The 1885 Camden City Directory shows a John Fallen, at 112 Taylor Avenue

John M. Fallen died of a stroke on April 29, 1887. The 1887-1888 City Directory lists Kate Fallen, widow of John, at 112 Taylor Avenue
