JOHN F. BLACKSON was born in Delaware on April 10, 1889. At the time of the 1930 Census he had moved to Camden NJ, where he had his own paperhanging business. He was then living wife wife Mary at 638 Cherry Street. He later moved to 238 Sycamore Street. In the mid-1940s he was selected to become the first manager of the Chelton Terrace Public Housing project at 8th and Chelton Avenue. He was discharged from his duties as manager in 1946, but was reinstated after appealing his case to the New Jersey civil service commission. He was suspended with intent to terminate again in 1948, and subsequently was arrested on charges of misappropriation of federal funds. John F. Blackson passed away in Camden NJ in November of 1967. |
