HENRY "HARRY" MILES was born in Pennsylvania in March of 1853. Henry Miles appears in the 1860 Census living in Camden's North Ward with older siblings Edwin and Anna at the home of James and Caroline Carrigan. 

Henry Miles does not appear in Camden during the 1870 Census, but was living in Camden when the 1878-1879 and 1879-1880 City Directories were compiled. He had recently married and was living with his wife Emma at 101 North 2nd Street, then working as a painter. Henry and Emma Miles had moved to 327 Hartman Street prior to the enumeration. Hartman Street was renamed Clinton Street in 1882. Henry Miles worked for a time as a cigar maker, but by 1882 had returned to work as a painter, and would follow that line of work for the rest of his working days.
  

On April 5, 1882 Henry Miles was appointed to the Camden Fire Department as an extra man with the Engine Company 2, taking the place of Charles Reed. Henry Miles served for two years. He was replaced by William Lyons in 1884. Henry Miles worked as a painter and during his two years with the Fire Department.

Henry and Emma Miles stayed at the Clinton Street address through the beginning of 1885. When the 1887-1888 City Directory was compiled, Henry and Emma Miles had returned to 101 North 2nd Street. He remained at this address until his death in August of 1917.

Henry Miles was buried at New Camden Cemetery on August 17, 1911. He was survived by his wife Emma, who joined him in September of 1935. Henry and Emma Miles had no children.
