FREDERICK WIELANDT was born in Germany, came to America in 1887 and by the following year arrived in Camden, which would be his home for the remainder of his life. When the Census was taken in 1910 he was living at 2735 Sherman Avenue in Camden's Cramer Hill neighborhood with wife, the former Lulu Durham, and son Henry. By 1930 Frederick and Lulu Wielandt had mnpoved to 2600 Baird Boulevard. The next door neighbors at 2602 was theater owner Samuel Varbalow and his wife Sadie, along with brother Joseph Varbalow a prominent Camden attorney and one-time judge. He was a successful stone and steel contractor, was active in Masonic, Moose, and German fraternal organizations. He passed away at home, 2600 Baird Boulevard, on August 22, 1942. |
