Mrs. E. S. Carlin, of 214 North Third street, with Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Bowden, of this city, have opened Mrs. Carlin's Ocean City cottage at 214 Central Avenue, which they will occupy for the remainder of the season. 

ELIZABETH S. CARLIN DIES AT AGE 90
Services Wednesday for Great-Granddaughter of Man Who Cast Liberty Bell

Mrs. Elizabeth S. Carlin, whose great-grandfather cast the Liberty Bell, died yesterday in her home at 2l4 North Third street. Death was due to complication of diseases incidental to her age. She was 90. Mrs. Carlin's forebear was Stow of the firm of Pass & Stow, Philadelphia mechanics who recast the Liberty Bell after it had been received in this country from Thomas Lister, Whitechapel, London, ironmonger, in 1752. The bell cracked while being tested. It was. found to contain too much copper, injuring its tone, and was recast a second time and hung again in April, 1753.

Mrs. Carlin was a native of Philadelphia. After going to school in Medford she moved to Camden 70 years ago and 50 years ago she bought the home of General Robeson, Secretary of the Navy in President Grant's cabinet. It was in this home that she died.

Her husband Edwin S. Carlin died 17 years ago, was a Camden real estate operator, as is also her son; Edwin Carlin. Mrs. Carlin was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, which she joined when she first moved here.

Beside. Edwin, she is survived by another son, William, of Darby PA; a daughter, Mrs. Alberta Bowden of the Third street address, and two grandchildren. 

The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at a funeral home at 423 Cooper Street.  Burial will be private in Harleigh Cemetery
