PRIVATE HARRY E. KING was the son of Harry L. and Ida King. Born in 1922, his family lived at 316 Avondale Avenue in Haddonfield NJ when 1930 census was taken. His father was then managing a chain grocery store. He had married prior to entering the service, and set up a household with his wife, Ernestine at 16 Richey Avenue in Collingswood NJ. Harry King was inducted
into the United States Army. Assigned to the 108th Field Artillery
Battalion of the 28th Infantry Division, he went overseas in October of
1943. His division was sent to France on July 22, 1944. He was killed in
action in France on August 2, 1944, near Percy, France. His death
was reported in the August 28, 1944 edition of the Camden Courier-Post. Harry King was survived by his wife Ernestine King, son Harry E. King Jr., parents, and a sisters Ruth & Dorothy. |
