PRIVATE FIRST CLASS CLARENCE CARLEY CARSON JR. was born on August 24, 1927. Nicknamed 'Sonny', he graduated from Collingswood (NJ) High School in June of 1945, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 31st of that year. He underwent basic training at Parris Island until November 3, 1945. He was assigned to the Naval Ammunition Depot at Dover NJ, reporting to that facility on November 6th, and received his promotion to Private First Class on December 20th.
Clarence C. Carson was killed in a motor accident in Whippany NJ on February 8, 1946. He is buried at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden NJ, next to his parents and grandparents.
